Refunds
Last updated 2 September 2026.
This page covers the money that can move on this website: the "Buy us a pint" payment, the platform fee you pay when you book an event, and the ticket itself on an event we host ourselves. If anything is unclear, email us and we will explain.
Buying us a pint
The "Buy us a pint" button takes a one-off amount you choose to give us. It is a gift: you give it freely and we give nothing back in exchange. Because there is no purchase on the other side of it, the statutory right to cancel a purchase within 14 days does not apply, and once it is sent, we treat it as given.
That does not cover us for a mistake. Email support@socialise.events with the date and amount if any of the following happened, and we will put it right:
- You were charged without meaning to authorise it.
- You were charged twice for the same pint.
- You were charged the wrong amount.
You can also ask your own bank to look at a charge on your statement at any time. That right is yours regardless of anything on this page.
Booking an event
When you book a paid event through this website, the host sets and keeps the ticket price. They are the seller, and a refund of the ticket comes from them. We take a separate platform fee for the booking itself.
One rule applies to every paid ticket on Socialise. If the host cancels the event, the host refunds the ticket and we refund the platform fee alongside it. If the host moves the event to a different date, start time or venue after you book, you can ask for the same. Email support@socialise.events. The host sorts it out and they may offer you a place at another event instead, and if we think the event changed fundamentally we will step in. If you find you cannot make it, the ticket is non-refundable: it was sold for a fixed date, and there is no host-set window to check for. The event page states this rule before you book.
Free events do not take a payment. We only ask for your name, so the host knows who is coming.
When we are the host
We run events of our own as well as carrying other people's, and you will find both on this site. On one of ours, Socialise Events Ltd is the host and the seller as well as the platform, so there is nobody else to refer you to: the same rule applies, we are the ones who act on it, and you deal with us for the ticket and the fee alike.
An event's own page always names its host. If it says Socialise Events, it is ours.
Everything above still holds. If we cancel one of our events, you get the ticket price and the platform fee back without asking. If we move it, you can ask for the same. Email us and we will settle it. If you cannot make it, the ticket is non-refundable, the same as it would be for any other host, and you can always write to us about it.
How a refund reaches you
Refunds go back to the card you paid with, through Stripe. Once we approve one, it typically shows up in your account within 5 to 10 working days, depending on your bank.
